GAR-FIELD CLASS OF '78 - 30th REUNION and GOLF, BILLIARDS, and SOCIAL EVENT A COMPLETE SUCCESS!!!
Classmates,
I am pleased to announce that the 30th Class Reunion/G-F Alumni Golf Outing was a complete success. The Class of '78 was able to give
to the Gar-Field Athletic Boosters a check for $500.00 to use for a scholarship fund or other needs the Boosters deem appropriate. We
realized when we began planning this 30 year reunion that the struggling economy would make or break us. Many of us had to cope with job
loss, mortgage crisis or at least our drastically dwindling 401k or other savings. Recognizing the current economic struggles, we priced the reunion
as cheaply as we could, and did a hell of a job at it. It looks like a lot of G-F Alumni decided, in early October, that the gas prices were going
down rapidly enough, that they were not going to miss the reunion. We had over 35 walk-ins on Friday night and 55 walk-ins on Saturday night!!
The Reunion Committee thanks all of you for coming out, especially at a dismal time in our lives. What a better time than now to turn our frowns upside
down at Friday nights reunion than with comedian Colin McGowan. It was the laugh we all needed. On Saturday - Oh My God - the G-F Golf Outing was way
too much fun!!! Next year I will definitely wear my Depends. We had over 55 Gar-Field Alumni teeing it up. And you should have seen Colin and JC's golfing
attire. This looks like its going to be an annual event based upon the numerous e-mails from golfers commenting on how much fun they had and their looking forward
to next years event. Stay Posted!
Saturday night was filled with tearing eyes, happy faces, lots of laughter, miles of smile and hugs and kisses. Exactly what a reunion is all about. So many G-F
Alumni - it was quite a site to behold.
The Reunion Committee, with the generosity of Ms. Barbara (Brookover) Cavalier, gave away tons of G-F mementos to all alumni in attendance. Key chains, cups, coffee mugs,
golf umbrellas, blankets, t-shirts, golf shirts, cds, baseball hats, and drink tickets were given away. I'm certain everyone went away with something.
For all those alumni who came out to support the reunion functions - THANK YOU!! This is what keeps the reunions going year after year.
